Education ministers from APEC economies gathered in Jeju, Republic of Korea, to discuss how education systems can respond to rapid digital change. Conversations centered on reducing learning gaps while supporting sustainable and inclusive growth. Education was framed as a long-term investment in regional resilience and social development.
Digital transformation featured prominently, with ministers reflecting on how technology is reshaping classrooms and learning pathways. Artificial intelligence was discussed as a tool to expand access and personalize learning, alongside concerns about readiness and equity. The need to support teachers through training and digital upskilling was repeatedly emphasized.
Ministers called for deeper educational cooperation among APEC economies. Meanwhile, strengthening technical and vocational education was highlighted as a practical way to better connect education with labor market needs. Participants emphasized that skills development must evolve alongside technological and economic change.
Looking ahead, ministers reaffirmed their commitment to inclusive education systems that leave no learner behind. At the same time, they agreed that digital innovation should help close gaps rather than widen them. These shared priorities will guide future cooperation and policy coordination across APEC.
