Impact of AI on UK workforce

A recent survey found that many people in the UK are worried about how artificial intelligence (AI) will affect their jobs. More than half of all adults said they are concerned, and this worry is especially strong among younger workers aged 25 to 34. Their biggest fears are losing their jobs or seeing their work tasks changed a lot because of new technology. This concern is also shared by people from different political backgrounds.

In response to these worries, the Trades Union Congress (TUC), a group that supports workers, has created a new plan. They want the government to change its approach to AI. The TUC believes that if AI is not managed correctly, it could make the gap between rich and poor even bigger and lead to job losses. They argue that any public money used to support AI should come with rules that protect workers and make sure they get job training and new skills.

While the TUC wants a “worker-first” approach, the government has a different plan. The government’s plan focuses on making the UK a world leader in AI. They want to use AI to help the economy grow and improve public services. Their plan includes building better technology and helping businesses use AI. Even with this focus on growth, many people believe that AI’s full potential can only be reached if it is used in a way that helps everyone, not just companies.
