No more energy drinks for kids under 16

The English government has decided to stop shops from selling energy drinks to kids under 16. This new rule was made because many people, like doctors and teachers, were worried. They said these drinks cause bad behavior in class, trouble sleeping, and can make kids get fat.

The new rule will stop all kinds of stores, restaurants, and websites from selling energy drinks that have a lot of caffeine. Before, some big stores had already stopped selling them to kids, but this new law makes it so everyone has to follow it. This includes popular drinks like Red Bull and Monster.

Leaders in education and health both said that these drinks are bad for children’s health and how well they do in school. A group of dentists also asked the government to ban even the sugar-free kinds to help stop tooth decay. While a group that represents soft drinks says its companies already have their own rules, the government’s new law is a stronger way to keep kids safe.
