Strengthening Food System Resilience through Cooperation
Building a resilient Asia-Pacific food system requires coordinated efforts across the entire grain value chain, from production through processing to marketing. A systematic approach helps economies address climate change, protect grain production capacity and improve market circulation, while also deepening grain trade cooperation.
Furthermore, conserving food, reducing loss and waste, and encouraging nutritious diets remain essential parts of overall food security efforts. Officials, experts and business representatives from the region gathered to advance implementation of a shared long-term strategy, the Food Security Readmap 2030, and to exchange progress reports and strategies for enhancing food system resilience. Sustained collaboration is necessary because no single commitment can fully resolve complex nutritious and food access challenges.

Rapid advances in digital technologies and artificial intelligence are shifting food systems, offering new opportunities for resilience and innovation. By strengthening technical exchanges and adopting intelligent solutions, economies can build competitive advantages and new momentum for food security.
Hence, win-win cooperation and strong public-private partnerships are essential to translating policy goals into real-world outcomes that benefit all sectors of society. China’s experience feeding nearly one-fifth of the global population despite limited land and water resources illustrates the potential of innovation-led strategies to support sustainable food systems. Even small, collective steps across the region can produce meaningful, lasting change when driven by shared goals and persistent efforts.
