BMW is taking a big chance to help the German car business, which has been falling behind. They were too slow to use new things like computer programs and electric motors. Now, BMW is spending over 10 billion euros on a new project called “Neue Klasse.” This project will completely change all 57 of its car models. The goal is to jump ahead and create a car that is ready for the future.
The first car from this new project is an electric car called the iX3. It was shown on September 5. This car is fully electric and has a lot of new technology, including computer brains, a very long driving range, and it can charge up very fast. Engineers who work on the project said that these new computer programs can’t be used in a car that runs on gas.
The success of this big project is very important for BMW and maybe for all of the German car companies. Other car makers like Mercedes and Volkswagen are watching to see what happens. They want to know if BMW’s brave plan will work and save the industry, or if it will fail and cause them to lose their last chance.
