EU fines Google once again

Based on the article, the European Union has made Google pay a large fine of almost €3 billion. They did this because they believe Google has been unfairly using its powerful position in the online advertising business. This is the fourth time the EU has punished Google for this type of behavior. This shows that the EU is still working to control big tech companies and make sure there is fair competition.

The EU also told Google it must stop giving its own ad services special treatment and fix any “conflicts of interest.” This rule is meant to give other companies a better chance to compete. Google, however, says the EU’s decision is “wrong” and plans to fight it. Google believes that the changes the EU wants will hurt many European businesses that depend on its services.

The fine comes after an official investigation that started in 2021. The investigation looked at whether Google was favoring its own online ad tools. While the EU had thought about making Google sell parts of its ad business, they decided not to. Because of this, some people are saying the fine is too small and that past punishments have not been enough to stop Google’s unfair actions.
