Israeli forces kill three in Gaza as settlers attack in occupied West Bank

Israel’s military operations in Gaza and the occupied West Bank continue despite a US-brokered ceasefire, with the death toll in Gaza surpassing 69,000 Palestinians. Over the past 24 hours, at least three more people have been killed in Israeli attacks, while civil defence teams recovered dozens of unidentified bodies. Thousands remain missing, many buried under rubble from two years of bombardments. Families continue the painful search for their loved ones in overcrowded hospitals, while forensic teams struggle with a lack of DNA testing equipment and the rapid decomposition of bodies.

The ceasefire agreement, repeatedly violated by Israel according to Gaza authorities, has failed to bring real relief. Reports show at least 282 breaches through continued airstrikes and shelling, with attacks occurring on most days since the truce began. Meanwhile, the United States insists the ceasefire is still holding. Humanitarian agencies denounce severe restrictions on aid deliveries, with Israel blocking essential supplies such as baby formula and syringes needed to vaccinate more than 40,000 children. With only a fraction of aid trucks reaching Gaza, the population faces hunger, malnutrition, and near-total collapse of basic services.

Electricity infrastructure in Gaza has been devastated, leaving two million people in darkness for nearly two years. Over 80% of the power grid has been destroyed, and officials confirm that no electricity currently reaches the enclave. The ongoing blockade and destruction have made daily life nearly impossible, as Palestinians rely on flashlights and makeshift power sources to survive amid the ruins.

In the occupied West Bank, violence by Israeli settlers continues with impunity. Dozens of masked settlers attacked the Palestinian villages of Beit Lid and Deir Sharaf, setting fire to vehicles, farmland, and homes, injuring several residents. Human rights groups report a surge in settler violence, often carried out under the protection of Israeli forces. Despite rare condemnations from Israeli officials, accountability remains absent. The ongoing assaults across Gaza and the West Bank highlight an entrenched cycle of occupation, displacement, and state-backed impunity that deepens the humanitarian crisis across Palestinian territories.
