Tesla is failing in Europe

Tesla’s car sales in Europe dropped sharply in July 2025, falling almost 40% from last year to just 8,837 vehicles. This cut its market share to less than 1%, showing how quickly the company is losing ground.

At the same time, Chinese carmaker BYD grew strongly, selling 13,503 cars, making a 225% jump. That gave BYD 1.2% of the market, pushing it ahead of Tesla for the first time in Europe’s electric car race.

The overall car market is still growing, with sales up nearly 6% and hybrids and EVs becoming more popular. But Tesla’s decline is linked to older models, stronger competition, and negative publicity around Elon Musk. Even with updates like the new Model Y, Tesla has not been able to stop its fall in Europe.
