A US court has made a big decision against Donald Trump. It ruled that most of the taxes he put on goods from other countries were illegal.The court said that Trump’s reason for the taxes an “economic emergency” broke a law from 1977 and the US Constitution.The court also said that while a president can put some small taxes on goods, Trump’s were too big and went too far. He didn’t have a clear okay from Congress to do what he did.
People are already reacting to the decision. A famous expert named Paul Krugman made fun of Trump’s claim that the ruling would “destroy the United States.”California’s governor, Gavin Newsom, called Trump “America’s biggest loser.” He said that everyday people are the ones suffering from Trump’s bad economic plans.
The governors of Missouri and Texas have changed their voting maps to help Republicans win. Other news from that day includes Trump stopping money for foreign countries, a new rule that bans abortions for veterans, and that Kamala Harris’s Secret Service protection was taken away.
