APEC Host Economy Policy Dialogue on Energy Successfully Held in Nanchang, Jiangxi

On March 17, 2026, the city of Nanchang became the center of regional energy strategy as the APEC Host Economy Policy Dialogue on Energy took place. This event served as a vital precursor to the 71st APEC Energy Working Group Meeting (EWG71). Approximately 90 delegates from member economies, academic institutions, and international organizations gathered to define the future of the sector.

Under the theme “Forge an Innovative and Synergistic Asia-Pacific Energy Community for All,” China presented its primary energy deliverables for the upcoming year. The agenda focused on three main pillars: Energy for All, AI+Energy, and Synergistic Cooperation.

Specifically, the meeting introduced concepts for high-quality universal service and the integration of Artificial Intelligence to optimize energy efficiency. Furthermore, delegates discussed the development of modern power systems designed to handle high levels of renewable energy.

China also proposed the establishment of a clean energy training institute to strengthen technical capabilities across the region. During the sessions, representatives engaged in a deep exchange of views and offered constructive suggestions to refine these projects. In conclusion, the dialogue in Nanchang established a solid foundation for the formal agreements that will be ratified in the upcoming working group meetings.
