Major Chinese investments are concentrated in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, notably the TEDA cooperation zone in Ain Sokhna under China’s Belt and Road Initiative. Which hosts roughly 200 companies representing over $3.8 billion in investments. Discussions also highlighted Cairo’s appreciation for Beijing’s support regarding the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD). Furthermore, China recognizing the vital significance of the Nile River to Egypt and agreeing on the necessity of avoiding unilateral steps.
Strategically, the visit took place against a backdrop of severe regional turmoil, including conflicts involving Gaza and Iran. Both leaders emphasized a shared commitment to regional peace, support for Palestinian rights, and political resolutions to ongoing crises. In addition, underscored by joint military initiatives such as the Eagles of Civilisation air exercises demonstrating long-range deployment capabilities. In conclusion, the landmark summit reaffirms a growing strategic and economic alliance between Egypt and China. Consolidating Beijing’s trade footprint and infrastructure investment in North Africa while aligning both nations politically on major regional stability issues.
