Humble Robotics raises $24M for cabless hauler

Humble Robotics presents a new approach to autonomous freight transport through a cabless, battery-electric truck platform focused on dock-to-dock operations. The startup, based in San Francisco, has emerged from stealth with a seed round of 24 million dollars led by Eclipse, joined by Energy Impact Partners and other investors, to fund development and early commercialization. Its first vehicle, the “Humble Hauler,” is a lighter alternative to traditional Class 8 tractor–trailer combinations and is specifically configured to move shipping containers within logistics environments. The platform uses lidar, radar and cameras to create 360-degree awareness of surroundings, addressing the complex maneuvers and precise positioning required at loading docks.

The Humble Hauler is driven by a vision-language-action (VLA) model that enables the system to reason about the world and respond to unfamiliar scenarios, with the aim of improving safety and shortening time to market for autonomous operations. This universal chassis, described visually as a hockey puck on wheels, is fully electric, with fewer moving parts than internal combustion trucks, lowering maintenance costs and supporting sustainability objectives. Founder and CEO Eyal Cohen highlights a career dedicated to electric and autonomous vehicle technology and emphasizes that freight can now be “fully automated all the way to the loading dock,” combining sustainability, safety and efficiency through an experienced team drawn from companies like Tesla, Waymo, Cruise and others.

Humble Robotics completed its first prototype in under six months and is already partnering with logistics and supply chain leaders to begin autonomous testing and commercialization pilots. According to Eclipse partner and board member Jiten Behl, the company is advancing at an “unprecedented pace,” recognizing that autonomous trucking demands an integrated “full-stack rethink across hardware, AI and electrification” to unlock scalability and significantly reduce freight transportation costs.
