Imperia Promotes Women’s Economic Leadership
First lady Melania Trump rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange to introduce Imperia, an initiative designed to help women become leaders and build economic power. Its membership includes chief executives, founders, innovators, entrepreneurs, and other professionals. The project marks a greater emphasis on business after much of her previous work focused on children.
During a meeting with the group, Trump encouraged women to move beyond seeking representation and instead focus on ownership, growth, and creating opportunities for others. She identified businesses, equity, real estate, capital, investment assets, ideas, and intellectual property as areas where women can strengthen their position. Her message presented women as a foundation of the global marketplace rather than simple participants in it.
Public Work Extends to Diplomacy and Families
In a rare television interview promoting Imperia, the first lady also discussed her public schedule and several international matters. She said that fewer visible appearances do not mean less activity because much of her work happens privately. Preparations for events surrounding the United Nations General Assembly and Chinese President Xi Jinping’s state visit were among the projects she cited.
Melania Trump said she was deeply involved in planning Xi’s visit and explained that President Donald Trump intended to greet the Chinese leader personally because of their relationship. She also described efforts to reunite Ukrainian and Russian children with their families. By July, she had helped five groups return home, and her team was working on another reunification through direct communication with leaders from the countries involved in the war.
A New Docuseries Expands Her Media Presence
The stock exchange appearance was not Trump’s first opening-bell ceremony of the year. She previously visited the exchange in January before the release of the Amazon documentary “Melania,” which followed her life during the weeks leading to her husband’s second inauguration. The latest event connected her expanding public agenda with the launch of Imperia and its focus on women in business.
A separate two-part docuseries featuring the first lady is scheduled for release in the fall. She said the production will differ from the earlier documentary by using more direct, one-on-one conversations. According to Trump, the series will include responses to personal questions that she has not addressed publicly before, adding another project to the work she says continues behind the scenes.
