Vietnam’s VinSpace announces deal with SpaceX to launch first satellite

Vietnamese aerospace firm VinSpace has partnered with SpaceX to launch its first satellites into orbit during the second quarter of 2027. Under the agreement, VinSpace will utilize SpaceX’s Transporter ride-share program, while remaining fully responsible for the internal research, development, manufacturing, and post-launch operations of the satellite payload. According to company executives, the upcoming orbital missions will allow engineering teams to test domestically developed satellite modules in real-world conditions. In short, gradually commercialize space technologies, and integrate Vietnam further into the global aerospace supply chain.

Headquartered in Hanoi, VinSpace was established in late 2025 with an initial committed capital of 300 billion Vietnamese dong ($11.5 million). The firm is predominantly owned by Vietnam’s wealthiest individual, Pham Nhat Vuong, who holds a 71 percent direct stake alongside additional family and corporate holdings. This commercial endeavor aligns with broader national policy changes enacted by Vietnam’s government, which officially designated space technology as a national strategic priority.
