Whoop is raising $575 million from investors and star athletes including Cristiano Ronaldo, LeBron James

Whoop, a screenless fitness wearable company focused on “human performance,” has raised 575 million dollars in Series G funding, achieving a valuation of 10.1 billion dollars and positioning itself among the world’s most valuable private companies, just below Shield AI and Kraken in valuation rankings. This round was led by Collaborative Fund and attracted capital from institutional investors such as 2PointZero Group, Qatar Investment Authority, Mubadala Investment Company, Abbott, Mayo Clinic, Macquarie Capital, and others, as well as high-profile individual backers including Cristiano Ronaldo, LeBron James, Rory McIlroy, Reggie Miller, Niall Horan, Virgil van Dijk, Karen Wazen, and Shane Lowry. The company reports having 2.5 million members, bookings growth of 103% year over year, and a 2025 bookings run rate of 1.1 billion dollars, while operating with positive cash flow.

Founded in 2012 by Will Ahmed, Whoop offers a high-performance wearable that monitors physiological data 24/7 to provide deep insights into recovery, sleep, and strain, distinguishing itself from smartwatches like Apple Watch by relying on a strap without a screen and prioritizing data collection over notifications. Recent product advances include the launch of Whoop 5.0 and Whoop MG, the latter securing FDA clearance for medical-grade ECG and blood pressure monitoring, which signals a move toward clinical health integration. The platform also incorporates “Whoop Coach,” an AI system that delivers personalized training recommendations based on each user’s data.

Whoop operates under a subscription-based business model in which the strap is included at no upfront cost when users purchase a membership, with a standard annual plan priced at 239 dollars as of early 2026. The company’s substantial new funding, strategic partnerships with major health institutions, and backing from globally recognized athletes together reinforce its ambition to expand as a data-driven health and performance platform while strengthening its position against competitors in the growing wearable fitness and digital health market.
