China declares branch of ‘Xi Jinping Thought’ as official party doctrine

China’s ruling Communist Party announced a new branch of President Xi Jinping’s political thought. Therefore, this new doctrine emphasizes governing the party with strict discipline and unified leadership. Additionally, it focuses heavily on wiping out corruption. State broadcaster CCTV called this concept a major milestone in Marxist theory.

Official Doctrine and Leadership

Cai Qi officially coined the new phrase during a recent meeting. Consequently, the party’s ideology chief chaired this important gathering. Furthermore, officials in charge of discipline and personnel also attended the event. Xi has carefully developed this concept since the 18th National Party Congress in 2012. Ultimately, it answers how to build a Marxist party with long-term governance.

Core Principles and Anti-Corruption

The new doctrine puts forth fourteen specific insists for the party. For example, it demands centralized and unified leadership from the Central Committee. Likewise, it requires full and rigorous self-governance. Fighting corruption remains another major focus of this new guideline. Therefore, coordinated efforts must ensure officials lack the audacity, opportunity, or desire to commit corruption.

Upcoming Congress and Changes

The party introduced this theoretical addition a year before its next congress. Consequently, officials expect to hold this major event in autumn 2027. Meanwhile, customary age limits will force significant leadership changes. As a result, more than two-thirds of the Central Committee will likely be replaced. Additionally, experts predict major reshuffles within the Politburo and its Standing Committee.

Long-Term Strategy and Legacy

A senior researcher described Xi’s doctrine as long-term, strict, and rule-based. Moreover, it launched right before the party’s 105th founding anniversary. Therefore, it will serve as the guiding principle for decades to come. Previously, Beijing announced Xi’s doctrinal contributions in the economy, military, diplomacy, and culture.
