China’s largest ground-based arms manufacturer is displaying new air defense systems. Consequently, Norinco is exhibiting these products at the Eurosatory exhibition in France. Demand for these specific defense solutions is currently skyrocketing globally. Furthermore, ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East heavily fuel this demand. Therefore, these modern wars highlight the massive use of unmanned aerial vehicles and missiles.
Advanced Defense Systems
At the event, Norinco is using miniature models to display its products. The exhibition features surface-to-air missiles, guns, and advanced laser weapons systems. Specifically, these systems target smaller aerial threats like unmanned drones. The medium-range GAS9 system can successfully intercept aerial threats within 100 kilometers. Meanwhile, the shorter-range GAS8 creates a highly effective multilayered defense network.
Lasers and Drone Warfare
Additionally, the SA2 system counters modern asymmetric threats like drone swarms. This self-propelled equipment uses a remote-controlled 76mm gun turret. Conversely, the OW5-A50 system addresses drone warfare with high-energy 50-kilowatt lasers. Therefore, this technology replaces the strict need for expensive surface-to-air missiles. Norinco also proudly displayed the SWS2 anti-aircraft gun and missile system.
Global Conflicts and Artillery
Recent intense air strikes rapidly drained missile stockpiles in the Gulf states. Consequently, Washington relocated anti-missile batteries from South Korea to the Middle East. Meanwhile, drones have caused up to 80 percent of casualties in Ukraine. Therefore, European states urgently want to strengthen their defenses against smaller aerial threats. Finally, Norinco showcased multiple howitzers and the SR-5 multiple-launch rocket system.
