Nvidia Reports Blowout Quarter, Says Demand for AI Chips Is Getting Even Hotter

Blowout Earnings and Strong Forecast

Currently, Nvidia delivered a pleasant surprise to investors by reporting a quarter of blowout earnings. Specifically, Chief Financial Officer Colette Kress announced an expected 70 percent revenue growth for fiscal year 2028. This projection significantly exceeds previous analyst predictions of 45 percent growth. Consequently, shares in the chipmaker gained 4 percent following the announcement. This strong forecast helped calm widespread market worries regarding dizzying spending on AI infrastructure. Furthermore, Nvidia continues to solidify its position at the absolute center of the artificial intelligence boom.

Financing Deals and Balance Sheet Strategy

Recently, Nvidia partnered with top Wall Street investment firms to provide partial guarantees for data-center financing. Specifically, this massive initiative supports up to $500 billion in financing to help customers afford advanced chips. Additionally, Nvidia agreed to backstop a major Ohio data-center project for OpenAI. Kress actively defended this financial support strategy during the earnings call. For instance, she stated that leading frontier AI labs will become the largest technology companies in history. Therefore, Nvidia views its direct balance sheet support as a high-return investment rather than circular financing.

Market Challenges and Future Outlook

However, market analysts highlight persistent concerns regarding slower monetization among companies implementing artificial intelligence solutions. Furthermore, Nvidia expects memory-chip price increases to lower its gross profit margins over the coming year. The company also confirmed that it expects no data-center revenue from China next quarter. Meanwhile, major customers like OpenAI and Anthropic are actively designing custom processors. Despite these competitive moves, Chief Executive Jensen Huang stated he remains unconcerned. Ultimately, Huang believes major AI labs will continue to rely heavily on Nvidia’s specialized computing hardware.
